What is a triathlon?
Consisting of swimming, biking, and running, a triathlon encompasses a single race. The distance of each event is the prime variable in a triathlon, and there are four official distances, Sprint, Olympic, Half-Iron, and Iron man. How to get started?
If you are already exercising regularly, transitioning to a triathlon training schedule is not much of an adjustment. Before registering for your first race, it is a good idea to meet with a coach and get a sense of how long of a training plan you should create based on your current fitness level to ensure you are prepared. A coach can also help you select the best race for your first triathlon. |
