What is a triathlon?
Consisting of swimming, biking, and running, a triathlon encompasses a single race. The distance of each event is the main variable in a triathlon and there are four official distances, Sprint, Olympic, Half-Iron and Iron man Always check out the distance details of an individual race before signing up. |
Why become a triathlete?
Triathlons, while competitive, focus on personal goals rather than defeating another participant. Triathlons also have a reputation for being welcoming communities, particularly to beginners. |
How to get started?
If you are already exercising regularly, transiting to a triathlon training schedule is not much of an adjustment. Before registering for your first race, it is a good idea to meet with a coach and get a sense of how long of a training plan you should create based on your current fitness level, in order to be adequately prepared. A coach can also help you pick out the best race for your first triathlon. |
